NOEL MARINHO: THE IMAGINATIVE USE OF TILES
Noel Marinho was an architect of his time. His engaged and personal take on architecture valued social function, versatility and artistic expression. Although Noel started designing tile panels early in his career, his output in this area is little unknown by the public. Noel´s tile work is surprising not only because of the unexpected compositions of shapes and colors, but also for the familiar feeling that stems from his alignment with the modern aesthetics that ruled the arts and architecture at the time he was learning his craft. It is a hidden treasure that adds to the historical and artistic repertory of that period while remaining distinctly contemporary.
